Staff joined professors, agricultural committee commissioners, and county department officers for an Invasive Species Tour in Sacramento. California is renowned for its unparalleled biodiversity within the United States and owes much of its ecological richness to its unique geography, acting as a natural shield against many pests originating from elsewhere. However, the delicate balance is threatened when invasive species, particularly ants, infiltrate the state, wreaking havoc on ecosystems and necessitating vigilant measures. California's distinction as the biodiversity hub of the United States comes with both ecological marvels and challenges. The proactive measures taken by the California Department of Food and Agriculture exemplify the state's commitment to preserving its unique ecosystems.
