High-Speed Rail is an Endless Money Pit

SB 1260 is a common sense measure that would require the inspector general of the California High-Speed Rail to conduct an independent review of the economic and financial justification for the high-speed rail project, including an assessment of the project’s ability to operate without subsidy, before the Legislature recommits to the full Phase 1 system.

The Legislature has already wasted the federal money and bond revenues building a short rail line in the least populous and geologically easiest region in the state. The high-speed rail is years behind schedule, and is estimated to cost $128 billion before completion. It's time to stop wasting money on this boondoggle.
