Jessica Chew presented a plaque to Red Bluff Mayor Clay Parker honoring the 1916 petition, from a number of Tehama County community leaders, for the release of members of the Chew family who were detained on Angel Island. They were released and settled in Red Bluff.
California's 1st Senate District contains all or portions of 11 counties, including Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Sierra, Siskiyou, and Shasta. Also serving deferred areas of Tehama, Butte, Colusa, and Glenn counties.
