Senator Dahle’s Bills Signed into Law

Two bills, Senate Bill 648 and Senate Bill 692, authored by Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) were signed by the Governor. SB 648 eliminates a technicality that prevented nine school districts with students attending the Mountain Valley Special Education Joint Powers Authority from collecting state funding for those students, securing the JPA's future. SB 692 seeks to expand the pool of candidates eligible to sit on the South Fork Irrigation District board by extending the residency area to five miles in all directions.

Senator Dahle issued the follow statements regarding the bills:

“Rural areas face many unique challenges, and both measures will help support and sustain our local communities. These bills were brought forward by constituents, and I’m proud to champion legislation in partnership with community stakeholders that provide innovative approaches and common sense solutions,” stated Dahle.

SB 847, another measure authored by Dahle, would have exempted those who wear religious headwear from the requirement to wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle. It was vetoed by the Governor.

“Even though the Governor vetoed this bill, I was proud to stand up for Californians’ religious freedom,” said Dahle.
