Update from Senator Dahle - 05.03.2023

Dear Neighbor‚

The 1st Senate District’s landscape is comprised of a rich tapestry of forests and rangelands‚ and why many of us love to call Northern California home. Wildfire Preparedness Week is the first week of May‚ and one of the ways we can continue to protect our scenic North State is by taking action now to help prepare for wildfire season.

Wildfire Preparedness Week is an excellent reminder to take a moment to evaluate if your home and property is wildfire ready.

I’ve shared below a few recommendations from CAL FIRE:

  • Prune overgrown shrubs and branches
  • Remove debris‚ brush‚ leaves‚ and lawn clippings
  • Relocate wood piles away from close proximity to buildings

In conjunction with this‚ be sure to check out their recommendation for home hardening.

Fire Safe Councils play a critical role in creating fire resilient communities‚ sustainable forest management‚ and mobilizing communities to take action. I was recently honored to meet with a few members from the districts to discuss legislative priorities and partnerships. As you know‚ I’ve always been a strong advocate of protecting our communities.
