Update from Senator Dahle - 11.09.2023

Dear Neighbor‚

First‚ I want to wish you a happy Veterans Day! We remember and honor the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. It is because of their commitment and sacrifice that our nation remains strong and free.

The constitutional deadline for the governor to act on bills was October 14th. I’m pleased to share three bills I authored were signed into law. These bills were brought forward by constituents‚ and I’m proud to champion legislation in partnership with community stakeholders that provide innovative approaches and common sense solutions. SB 648 eliminates a technicality that prevented several school districts with students attending the Mountain Valley Special Education Joint Powers Authority from collecting state funding. SB 692 seeks to expand the pool of candidates eligible to sit on the South Fork Irrigation District board. SB 836 makes it easier for certain property owners to improve irrigation ditches so they can access their water rights.

I always appreciate the opportunity to be out in the district hearing from constituents. I received a warm and genuine welcome from community members‚ and my sincere gratitude to all who attended the meet-and-greets in Red Bluff‚ Orland‚ and Colusa! Special thanks to the numerous local elected officials who attended‚ and for giving me an update on matters pertaining to the region.

In closing‚ I’m always honored to work with constituents on legislation. My team and I are working on my legislative package for next year‚ I would love to hear your ideas - you can submit them here. Rural areas face many unique challenges‚ and together‚ we can bring forward measures that will help support and sustain our local communities for generations to come!

It’s an honor to serve you‚
