Plumas Strong is selected as the 1st Senatorial District’s 2022 Nonprofit of the Year

In celebration of California Nonprofits Day, Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) honored Plumas Strong as the 1st Senatorial District’s 2022 Nonprofit of the Year.

Plumas Strong has been a constant source of support and enrichment for those in Indian Valley and throughout Plumas County. Through the promotion and advancement of vital programs and services, Plumas Strong is focused on community development and relief to those who need it.

We are truly grateful for all of the hard work and dedication that our community has poured into this effort. Without the love and generosity of our neighbors and friends, none of this would be possible,” said Ryan Schramel, Chair of Plumas Strong.

Prior to the 2021 Dixie Fire, which destroyed several Plumas County communities, Plumas Strong served as a center for community development. In addition to supporting local community programs such as Greenville Community Garden, Youth Summit, Community Playground Equipment, Kidfest, Copper Creek Camp, and Streetscape, Plumas Strong also spearheaded a program known as Rural to Rural. This program offers Plumas County students the opportunity to experience life in third world countries and to promote economic development and education. Through Rural to Rural, students have gone to Honduras, Haiti, Uganda, and Mexico with the primary focus on Uganda and Haiti.

After the Dixie Fire, Plumas Strong has emphasized relief and rebuilding efforts, including food, gas, temporary housing programs, and furniture and household item drives for those moving to new housing. Additionally, Plumas Strong partnered with the Greenville High School Alumni Fund to provide $1,000 to all GHS graduates who lost property in the fire.

The incredible work by all those contributing to Plumas Strong, including Chair Ryan Schramel and Vice-Chair Sue Weber has been truly inspiring and serves as a source of pride to all members of the community,” said Senator Dahle.
