Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) released the following statement after a meeting with members of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and concerned residents who opposed the vote that could raise gas prices upwards of 65 cents per gallon immediately:
“Today’s decision by CARB will not only make it more expensive for families, but also disproportionately affect residents in rural communities in my district who must travel long distances for groceries, healthcare, etc. Californians shouldn’t have to forfeit taking their family out to dinner in order to afford putting gas in the car just to get to work.
“My Republican legislative colleagues and I have repeatedly called for greater accountability and transparency regarding today’s vote. As decision-makers, they need to be aware of the impact of their choices and lack of responsiveness to community needs. I deeply appreciate every one of my constituents who took the time to sign the petition to help stop this vote from happening without greater justification of why the price increases. Unfortunately, these unelected bureaucrats are out of touch, and they chose political shenanigans instead of listening to the voices of thousands."
Governor Newsom’s Special Session Stunt 2.0:
“Instead of focusing on affordability and helping Californians cope with the high costs of living, this Governor recently pulled another stunt calling for a special session of the Legislature to focus on ‘values.’ Let me be clear, it doesn’t take a special session for that. Californians value keeping their money, and they are quickly losing it with the high cost of groceries, gas, housing and everything else his administration and bureaucracies like CARB do that drive up prices," said Senator Dahle.
