Update November 12, 2021 from Senator Brian Dahle

This week we celebrated the freedoms we have in America because of the sacrifice of our brave military men and women. Thank you does not seem enough to express our gratitude, but thank you for your service.

As we look joyfully toward the holiday season, there are many legislative and district-related news items that might interest you.

The California Chamber of Commerce recently released rankings of state legislators’ support of healthy business policies in California, rating me as the most pro-business senator in 2021. I’m proud to be a small-business owner in California and am committed to voting on policies that:
·         Allow for expedited movement of goods
·         Retain businesses in California
·         Keep our businesses open and individuals employed

In other exciting news, the California Student Aid Commission reports there were 5,707 students in California’s 1st Senate District who received the Cal Grant for the 2019-2020 academic year totaling $30,459,562. I’m thrilled that higher education dreams and goals are being fulfilled. Paying for college can pose a challenge for many students, let alone during tough economic times. Nevertheless, financial aid options are available to students based on need, area of interest, school, public service, and academic success—click here for more information.

In case you missed it, the California State Water Board recently announced grants and loans to help a number of communities in the 1st Senate District improve their water and wastewater systems, including Herlong, South Lake Tahoe, and Jones Valley.  It is challenging for rural systems with limited staff to navigate the process, and I appreciate the work of those who serve their communities.  My team is always ready to do anything we can to help local water systems work with the state and advocate for funding improvements.

The holiday season can bring food insecurity for some, which is both real and frightening. If you or someone you know may be in need, please click here for a list of food pantry and food assistance resources throughout the district. The list is not comprehensive and hours may differ due to COVID-19, so contact my office if you know of a program that should be on the list.

If my staff can be of assistance in any other way, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Senator Brian Dahle
