As the California Legislature recognizes Women’s History Month in March, Sen. Megan Dahle is very proud to announce that Maryann Kaae-Munson is the 2026 1st Senate District Woman of the Year – recognizing many years of community service in Siskiyou County.
A resident of the Scott Valley, Kaae-Munson is a dedicated cattle rancher and longtime member of the Siskiyou County CattleWomen, where she has served in leadership roles, including as Chairperson, contributing to the organization’s awards programs and community initiatives promoting the beef industry.
Through her work with College Options, she connected rural Northern California students — particularly in Siskiyou County — with higher education opportunities, serving as a counselor and advisor to empower youth from areas like Yreka, Etna and Happy Camp to pursue college and career paths.
A committed community leader, Kaae-Munson has served as Vice Chairman on the board of Siskiyou Credit Union, supporting local financial access in rural California.
She is also a loving wife to her husband, Cliff, and the proud mother of six.
“Maryann has been deeply committed for many years to the farm community of Siskiyou County and to the challenge of steering the North State’s teenagers onto the right path to adulthood,” said Sen. Dahle. “Hers has been a life of service. I am deeply grateful for her work, which has helped so many, and to call her a friend.”
